Our Queen; Mrs. Susan Marlowe

Serving as Queen at the February 4th, 2012 Royal Bal Masque will be Mt. Pleasant business owner, educator, and portrait artist, Mrs. Susan Marlowe. Mrs. Marlowe currently serves on the Patriots Point Development Authority as Chairwoman of the Education and Museum Committee, and as a liaison to the Patriots Point Foundation’s land use study committee. She is also a Mt. Pleasant business woman (owner of New Traditions, Inc. and consultant to Carlisle Collection New York), and founding member of the East Cooper Entrepreneurial Women’s Club.

A former arts teacher of 28 years, Susan Marlowe was appointed to the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee and has also served on the Board of the South Carolina Governor’s School of the Arts. Her many years as an educator strengthened her belief in service to community and country, and she has passed that philosophy and dedication on to the many students that found themselves in her classroom. Susan and her husband, Bobby Marlowe, have strong ties to the Lowcountry. They are very active alumni at the College of Charleston, and founding members of the Krewe of Charleston.

The Krewe of Charleston was established in 2009 bringing family and friends together to celebrate the merriment of fellowship year-round, with special emphasis placed on Mardi Gras, and to support local charities with the Mardi Gras spirit.
